About this deal

In short, I think this is a strong offering for young readers, but somewhat less so if you're an adult hoping for the perennially promised "next Harry Potter. When the mysterious Nowhere Emporium arrives in Glasgow, orphan Daniel gets drawn into its magical world. Silver's wing and discovered a life of wonder and magnificence because the precious marshmallow really, really deserved it.

There isn't a lot of magic to excite me though, but to kids 12 years old, they may enjoy this book more than I do. Poor vocabulary limits access to texts, which reduces opportunities to learn new word meanings – and so on. Orphaned as a toddler and growing up in a children's home, Daniel is constantly picked on by Spud Harper and his gang of bullies. She just wanted to set foot outside the Emporium's walls and see the real world, breathe fresh air into her lungs and explore the extraordinary beauty of earth. He lives in Renfrew, where he grew up, with his wife and baby daughter, but spends much of his time in another world.

If you've been on my blog for two seconds you'll probably know that I live for the characters in books. She felt trapped and stifled due to not being able to leave the Emporium's walls and I felt so sadfor her because she was just a real girl who was a ghost to everyone but her father, Daniel and the Emporium's staff. After my 10yo telling me how amazing this book was and that 'you have gotta read it mum' I had to download it. Still less a kid whose most urgent need is to be reassured that feeling unsure and unsteady is normal. When Lara discovers a mysterious wooden box in King's Landing, she's thrown into an adventure she could never have predicted.

In present-day Glasgow, 11-year-old Mirren is dismayed to learn that her mother is being held captive inside the Emporium. However, his life changes forever when he stumbles upon The Nowhere Emporium, which has mysteriously arrived in Glasgow. Trying to be realistic for lots of my readers/friends here on GR, I don't think many of you would go out of your way to read it without a younger loved one to share it with; but I think you could have an opportunity to do that since many children younger than the recommended age of 8 would enjoy having this book read to them before they could read it to themselves. It's refreshing to read fantasy stories that are concluded within one book instead of being stretched across several installments.Stick by my original statement, I don't think I've been this excited about a book since Harry Potter! Winner of the Blue Peter Best Story Award 2016 and the Scottish Children's Book Award 2016, and the North East Book Award 2015. Silver mentioned that not even magic could bring the dead back to life and sometimes people die in stupid accidents which is sadly a case of the wrong place at the wrong time, how grief can cause us to lose hope and how everyone, at some point, dies.

The villainous character of Vindictus Sharpe and past events which come back to visit Lucien leave plenty of cliff-hangers. She felt trapped and stifled, not being able to leave the Emporium's walls and I felt so sad for her because she was just a real girl who was a ghost to everyone but her father, Daniel and the Emporium's staff. Meanwhile, they must keep one step ahead of the inky Nightmares, viscous monsters with terrifyingly sharp teeth, which chase them through the labyrinth of rooms. This cracking sequel to theBlue Peter Book Award-winning The Nowhere Emporiumis chock full of magic and invention. Before I start this review, let me first point out something most people have or are likely to notice when reading this book.
