Ruff Catch-a-Doggy-Bone is back as Junior's own pet human, and in short, Junior has behavioral issues that need addressing. Young readers will hear from Fido about Abraham Lincoln’s love for all creatures (great and small), his unique methods of child-rearing, his most famous speeches—including the Emancipation Proclamation—and the tragedy that cut short his life. Before I knew it, Ruff was down on the ground and I was planting as many slobbery licks on his cheek as I could.

Twenty teams participate, and the dog who inevitably gets credit for saving the town is Balto, lead dog on the final team which delivered the serum. I still do as an adult, but in comparison to the other books I enjoy now as an adult, it doesn't hit the 5 stars! Stubby the war dog narrates the story of his life–from his days as a stray to his time on the battlefields of France!

The last third of the book is a fitting finale Junior's silly, light-hearted, melodramatic narrative.
