About this deal

Her investigation doesn't make her many friends, but she is determined to get to the bottom of it and justice for the victim. I have lived in China for the past 2O years,so getting English novels is not easy, although found odd ones on the internet here.

The family history was so all over the place and by the end of the book the whole thing seemed like a waste of time. I love this series and always enjoy the evolution of Jane's character - it was very exciting to see her once again take a step forward in career with her promotion. What I liked was a different style of telling the story, I'm a bit tired of all the same contemporary unreliable narrators in every mystery novel these days, so, a solid person was so refreshing. Lorraine Page is left to figure out if she wants to come forward with the fact that she, herself, witnessed the attempted murder of the victim who escaped.Jane Tennison is leading a murder investigation into the recent brutal death of a young girl, her decomposed starved body discovered in an old air raid shelter in the garden of the Lanark's now derelict house. An excellent police procedural, mystery, detective story with a London location, tense plot and very well-drawn characters, Ms. However, this strong start doesn’t last for as long as I would have liked, with the more interesting case about the dead young woman being solved relatively quickly (although with an extremely dark solution), leaving only the mystery of the dead baby behind. I had a struggle to complete the book and once I have completed reading it, the ending was lackluster.

What a poorly written book; I’ve never thought the word bland would describe a novel but somehow it does for this effort. He is portrayed throughout as a sort of brutish, somewhat threatening thug, with his own successful business but almost certainly a fair amount of dodgy dealings in both that and the affairs of his aunt/the house. Knowing I was going to read this instalment I referred to the first Tennison book with a view to drawing on some background information about the characters; that said, I don’t think this is essential for understanding if you’re planning to embark on this particular novel. Again LaPlante doesn't give readers a simple resolution but reminds us there are shades of grey lurking between the black and white, between the wrong and right.I enjoyed this, though probably as much because of Jane's own insightful ponderings and methodical problem (crime) solving than the mysteries on offer. Lynda has a strong focus on crime and thriller, as she discovered when she wrote her first series for Thames Television, Widows, in 1983.

The worst part of all is when Page discovers that her colleagues have already determined Cindy is the killer, and have charged her with the act. The formulaic narrative and over-referencing certain aspects of the era did prove too prominent at times. It is now the mid-80s, and we meet up with Jane as she's moved into her new home and is having it renovated. This one isn’t a favourite but is still really good, all her books are easy to read and she gets you gripped to the story by the end of chapter one. I generally enjoyed the plot of the book and all for a female lead in a senior position what we would term the boys club in the police force.Lynda LaPlanteis the first lay person to be awarded an honorary fellowship to the Forensic Science Society. It has been a very long time since I have read a book by Lynda LaPlante and I wondering why after reading Dark Rooms. Its familiar formula focuses on life within the Met Police, as the award-winning author continues with the character behind the Prime Suspect television series. In 2020 she launched the acclaimed Listening to the Dead podcast with former CSI Cass Sutherland, exploring forensic science and its impact on solving crimes. Sir William Benedict is left with no choice but to exact revenge on those who have sabotaged his dreams…and Justin Chalmers and his sister Laura are about to discover just how dark revenge can be when exacted by a man who has nothing left.
