Break off both ends of the smoke tube and attach the rubber aspirator bulb to one end of the tube. When the bulb is squeezed, a chemical reaction produces white smoke. This smoke makes the air flow (in ventilation systems/ducts, etc.) visible. You will require a tube tip breaker to break off the ends of the smoke tube. These are sold separately from the kit. Alternatively, you can use the tip breaker if you already own a Gastec sampling pump. Here in Cork, Ireland it can be difficult to get certain brands and parts of fire alarm systems. You have been a great help. So thank you.Fire detector test and service equipment must be safe both for engineer and system. As a minimum it must comply with international codes and standards and be approved / endorsed by detector manufacturers and third party listing agencies but it also needs to be cost-effective, portable and versatile.
