The burgers I cooked for the barbecue's first use were juicier than any I've cooked on anything else, with nice char lines. I've not smoked anything yet, but I'm looking forward to trying that. Also good, was that by closing the lid and vents after cooking, I was able to save the remaining unburned charcoal for my next cook, which I couldn't have done with my old open-top barbecue. It is actually a good design but a real pain to put together, takes about 3 hrs with all the tiny parts and screws. I bought this about 3 months ago from ManoMano. Like many I was impressed with the amount of BBQ for the money. Or what seemed that way. First, let’s take a look at the size and weight. This BBQ measures 124 x 66 x 113 cm and it weighs 24 kg. It’s large enough to cook a lot of food – easily enough for a party of 10 – but it’s not impossible to store. We don’t have a lot of storage space at home, and still managed to find somewhere to keep it, no problem. The built-in storage is another feature that works well. This barbecue has a large storage section underneath that can be used to store plates, condiments, or bread rolls, as well as the two foldable side tables. These are a great spot for storing plates or cooked food. The BBQ is made of cheap, Chinese steel. The paint easily chips when building. But I decided to proceed.We found that to move the BBQ from inside to outside, we had to lift it from underneath. When doing this, we discovered that some of the edges/underneath were pretty sharp, so this wasn’t the easiest solution. As mentioned, even when using the wheels on one side, the other side still needs to be lifted, so it just doesn’t seem very logical that it doesn’t have any handles. If you often move around and want to have your grill available for transport, you’ll be glad to hear that the CosmoGrill features two wheels that ensure easy transportation. I do have to mention one small flaw though. The cooking area is a good few inches wider than the charcoal tray on each side. This means that the very edges of the cooking area don’t get as hot. Given that the cooking area is large, this won’t cause a problem most of the time. But, if you’re cooking to capacity, it might be noticeable. I recently bought this BBQ and I am very impressed with the build quality, price and customer service of Cosmogrill. Gas side works well, mechanism on the charcoal side is smooth. I had one small issue with one of the thermometers threads being dodgy, I Whatsapped Cosmogrill and within 2 days I had a new one delivered. Customer Service Team are fantastic, we were sent the wrong cover, and the correct one was sent out to us along with a new Igniter wire for the side burner. Raul and Aman were fantastic in keeping us informed throughout and the items arrived as promised. Nothing was any issue to them and Aman also directed us to online videos to hoe to use a Smoker. We have now mastered this and enjoy all the different woods available to enhance the BBQ flavours. It did take us 3 hours to put together mainly because one of the steps was not really clear at all and resulted in us having to dismantle it and try againIt’s definitely a good idea to leave all screws loose whilst building the BBQ and tighten them up at the end.
The front door panel is another excellent touch. The door can easily be opened and extra coal loaded in. The handle stays cool to touch even when the interior is very hot. If you can persevere through a bit of time-consuming assembly, this BBQ is a really excellent choice. I know I’ve mentioned a few small design flaws throughout this review, but they are all very minor things. I found this BBQ extremely easy to use and I’m confident that I would still feel this way even if cooking for multiple people. The best one has to be the built-in thermometer.
