In All Hail King Julien, he is portrayed as easily excitable and eccentric, with fantastical and often outlandish ideas. He's easily distracted, and often becomes wholly consumed by an idea or notion. He is also shown to be very self-centered and never takes the blame for his actions. He always blames someone for his fault, mostly Mort or Maurice. However in All Hail King Julien, in The End is Here, he blames himself and takes the responsibility of his fault for forgetting where he buried Sage, though he first blamed Maurice. He likes to whistle. He is "pretty good" at it now, but he would like to become a professional whistler. Technically, his statement is ironical, he's a terrible whistler. It is seen in My Fair Foosa and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. In " Jungle Games" King Julien mentioned that even before he met Maurice, he used to compete in pair tramping tournaments with Leonard, who was his partner and they were the best. But then an accident happened: while jumping with Leonard during the finale, King Julien landed too hard on the trampoline, causing Leonard to bounce extremely high and disappear. King Julien thought that Leonard died but then Maurice showed him that Leonard is still alive, just retired.
Mort (perhaps the most loyal after the scene in King Me) and Maurice are very loyal. Even though Maurice is a extremely loyal to King Julien in All Hail King Julien, who is to be one of his best friend, these are some examples where Maurice's character change: Skipper turns to Maurice. He's seen in a cowboy hat and fake sheriff star, posing in front of a mirror. He tosses everything away, breaking the mirror. Maurice approaches him with a half eaten ice pop) During the campaign, King Julien the Terrible made up lies and spread rumors about Julien, saying that he is out of touch with regular lemurs and has abandoned 20 of his own children. This gave King Julien the Terrible a substantial lead in the polls. King Julien announces he's turning over a new leaf and seeks anonymous suggestions from his subjects on how to improve their kingdom. In " Haunted Habitat," he mentioned that he had a dream that he was "the last mammal on Earth". Mort was just happy to be in the dream despite the fact that he was "roadkill" in it.King Julien sparks a fashion frenzy when he turns a box of diapers into the coolest styles the kingdom has ever seen upon being told about them by Xixi. He soon ends up in a fashion war with Dorothy and Ted over the diaper distributions.
When Masikura convinces King Julien that the island is sinking, Julien believes building an ark is the only way to save his people. The Strife Aquatic- Pancho, your machine might be broken. Because he is extremely conceited, selfish and rather dim-witted, Julien is a terrible king. It seems that he will only let people talk good about him. Julien could even be narcissistic in that way. But it has been referenced twice in the series that deep down, he mainly wants his friends to stay by his side.
