About this deal

If your item is under warranty, please contact us so that we can resolve the claim in the best and most timely manner. POLARTEC® Power Grid's structure gives it remarkable wicking and fast drying capabilities, together with an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio.

Please do not use the `Remember me` option if using a computer with public access or that is used by more than one person. Montane Allez Micro Hoodie uses lightweight POLARTEC® Power Grid™ fabric to deliver a superbly versatile garment that can be worn either as a baselayer in colder conditions or as a lightweight mid-layer as part of a mountain layering system. Our team are working extended hours to get through this as quickly as possible, we ask you to be patient during this busy time. Sometimes it's hard to stay snug without developing that distracting clammy feeling, but POLARTEC Power Grid delivers remarkable wicking and fast-drying capabilities, along with its exceptional warmth to weight ratio. So, the Allez Micro Pull-On is definitely a next-to-skin, semi-insulating baselayer rather than a lightweight thermal mid.The POLARTEC® Power Grid™ fabric is both comfortable, and owing to the innovative ‘corrugated’ nature is exceptionally warm for it’s weight (195g). The fit is snug, without being restrictive, and used on longish runs (around 20k) while building up the distance and sweat, it didn’t chafe (the problem I had last year!

The above information relates only to the product materials, and does not reflect the full life cycle of the product, such as transportation, washing or eventual disposal. What we're looking for here is a good warmth to weight ratio (since you're carrying it most of the time), a small pack-size, a durable enough material to handle the push and pull of changing clothes in cramped conditions, but perhaps most importantly, comfort - since morale and a good night's sleep should not be underestimated. We use marketing, analytical and functional cookies as well as similar technologies to give you the best experience. This does not apply to any perishable goods, unsealed software or item personalised or made to your specification. One can, for instance wear a relatively not-breathable wind layer, to guard against stronger winds and to take advantage of the more limited moisture absorption (relative to soft shell windshirts), and get away with venting via the front zip in warmer and calmer moments. This cancellation policy does not affect your rights when we are at fault – for example, if goods are faulty or wrongly described. That same attribute is of course it’s main virtue in the cold, and why most of the time Polartect HE works best against the skin. This all works well if cold air isn't rushing over the upper face fabric causing all that heat to transfer to the outside via convection.

Often compared (usually derisively, since the Livingston is very similar) to the Melanzana fleece, this is a USA made garment. Additionally, unlike the Rab Flux (pictured below) the fabric has a slightly textured (non-silky) outer surface ensuring that once tucked in, it stays put. It is expensive, but when spread over the likely lifetime of the product, we think it's well worth the investment. LD Mountain Centre does not accept responsibility for items being delayed through customs/ security checks or adverse weather conditions. This version keeps things simple with only a zip at the neck, but a hooded version is also available. The main, perhaps only difference of substance between the Allez Micro and the current Patagonia Thermal Weight hoody is the hood, with the former being a single layer, and the later double. I use this in a layering system with the Montane Dart range and keeps me warm, fresh yet breathable. Polartec HE was on the vanguard of the defining textile apparel trend of the past decade, and understanding how unusually, occasionally exceptionally wicking and air permeable fabrics interact as various parts of a layering apparatus. Why, well, I had one eye on the mountain running I’d be doing and having full length insulation layers running in varying climates and through the night would require something up to the task!

Some sort of shell is often important, in cold, weather, to control evaporative rates and thus provide for some adjustment in heat and cooling. Power Grid is classic R1 fabric, Power Grid HE (high efficiency) is the more spaced out, lighter grid of the Allez, Capilene Thermal Weight, etc. But moisture wicking and "breathability" are useful attributes when you're damp and are trying to dry out under your insulated jacket or inside your sleeping bag.

There's no better insulator than air, afterall a down jacket's raison d'etre is "loft" (the creation of an air gap between your warm body and the cold outside). Something like the Allez Micro also works, decently, as a midlayer over a slower wicking t-shirt, which slows down moisture transport against the skin, but speeds it up through the midlayer. Though, if like me you wear wrist gaiters in winter on an almost permanent basis, this is not an issue. We may be able to arrange for a repair to be carried out at your cost, so please contact us for further details if you would like to use this service. The Allez Micro Hoodie using lightweight POLARTEC Power Grid fabric delivers a superbly versatile garment that can be worn either as a baselayer in colder conditions or as a lightweight mid-layer as part of a mountain layering system.
