About this deal

Our Love Goes Deeper Than This" by Duke Special, on the 2-CD version of Songs from the Deep Forest (2006) a b Aston, Martin (June 1996). "The Divine Comedy: Casanova". Q. No.117. Archived from the original on 1 September 2004 . Retrieved 13 April 2020. It's not an entirely successful collection : "Can You Stand Upon One Leg" is a silly, throwaway kids song – Hannon's Sesame Street moment, maybe – and "The Lost Art Of Conversation", his Beatlesque pop piece about the delights of discourse, is little more than an excuse to string together ludicrously literate lists of subjects for discussion. Singles ‘Something For The Weekend’, ‘Becoming More Like Alfie’ and ‘The Frog Princess’ became chart hits and airplay staples while an alternate version of ‘Songs Of Love’ became the theme music for legendary Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted. But it’s the senses that are stimulated when the curtain first goes up, revealing a sumptuous set with beautiful dancers made to look ravishing by Tindall’s choreography, long legs everywhere, pointe shoes like talons. All these bodies do eventually have to become entangled, however, and one difference in restaging the show now – even compared with making it in 2017 – was the treatment of sexual encounters. Scottish Ballet, for example, recently hired an intimacy coach to work on a new production. “Dance is intimate by its nature,” says Tindall. “Bodies touch immediately, so it’s different from acting. But it’s essential to create a safe working space where everybody feels comfortable. It was a huge conversation for us.”

Hannon and an eleven-piece ensemble will also be celebrating the band's 30th anniversary with residencies at The Barbican in London and the Cité de la Musique in Paris. These shows, postponed from September 2020 to September 2022, will feature the band playing two of the classic albums, per show, in a five-show residency in each venue. Tindall’s story, written with Casanova biographer Ian Kelly, tells the tale through his relationships with three key women, but Tindall has added new sections that reflect on Casanova’s character – especially his decline, his failing intellect and the loss of all the loves in his life. “He was always yearning for connection,” says Tindall. “It’s very Freudian with his mother at the beginning of his life. He’s neglected.” The Smiths-esque 'In & Out Of London & Paris' also pushes the camp carry-on sex capers with witty abandon, subverting the Hokey-Kokey to amusingly smutty effect ("In out in out, shake it all about"), while the beautiful 'Songs Of Love' is immediately nostalgic and recognizable for being the theme-tune of the popular British sit-com Father Ted. The Divine Comedy are a pop band from Northern Ireland, formed in 1989 and fronted by Neil Hannon. Hannon has been the only constant member of the group, playing, in some instances, all of the non-orchestral instrumentation except drums. The band has released 12 studio albums. Between 1996 and 1999, nine singles released by the band made the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, including the 1999 top ten hit, " National Express". Engineer [Assistant] – Chris Scard, Darren Nash, Gareth Parton, Gerard Navarro, Paul Mysiak, Robbie Kazandjian, Scott Howland, Tom Gurling Casanova had the longest recording period of any Divine Comedy album up to that point and consequently had a higher budget. Setanta was able to indulge Neil Hannon's desire because of the success of Edwyn Collins' hit single " A Girl Like You".
